Purpose and PTK

Hi Wisconsin Phi Theta Kappans! My name is Jen Boydston and I’m your 2019-2020 Regional Vice President. I’m a student at Northcentral Technical College pursuing a degree in Business Management.

Because I am a non-traditional student, PTK means more to me than I could have imagined. When I first started my journey in college, I had no real purpose. However,  now that I have my son and it is just him and me, there truly is a purpose and a reason to try even harder. Not only is it for him that I try harder, but ever since accepting my membership March 2018, I feel like I belong somewhere. That is a feeling that I have been missing for a long time and am beyond grateful to have found again with Phi Theta Kappa.

Looking Ahead

This year I look forward to working on my leadership skills, and my public speaking skills. Even though it may seem like I have both of those skills down, there is always room for improvement.  I also look forward to getting to work with all of the chapters. and I hope to be a regional officer that any member can come to with questions.  If I don’t know the answer, I will do my best to find out!

Also, this year I would like to focus on opportunities to get members with children and families involved in PTK.  What ideas do you have for involving more members and families in PTK?  Let us know-we’d love to hear your ideas.
