What it means for me to be a member of Phi Theta Kappa is being a part of something that’s much bigger than me.
When I first got to Fox Valley Technical College in September 2015, my goal was to get inducted into the school’s national honors society, since I didn’t get invited to join in high school. When I got the invitation to join PTK, I immediately accepted. I wanted to be involved as soon as possible. I was elected Treasurer and began participating in club events and trips.
Phi Theta Kappa has helped me step out of my comfort zone and has given me the opportunity to meet new people, make unforgettable memories, and build lots of important interpersonal skills. I love PTK and I think every student should join, not just for the purpose of building a resume and other academic credentials, but to develop better leadership skills and become a better person in the workplace as well as their community.
